Penang DOE Investigates Suspected Pollution Near Floating Mosque in Tanjung Bungah*
GEORGE TOWN, Nov 10 — The Penang Department of Environment (DOE) has launched an investigation into a suspected pollution incident in the waters near the Floating Mosque in Tanjung Bungah, following the circulation of images showing brown streaks in the area on social media.
According to DOE director Norazizi Adinan, the department has called on the State Fisheries Department and the Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM) to assist in the investigation. He noted that the presence of the pollution in such a highly visible area suggests it could be an intentional act or act of sabotage.
Penang Fisheries Department director Zarina Zainuddin stated that her department has yet to receive any formal updates regarding the incident. “I was only just informed of the situation and have not received further details. We will look into it,” she said.
The incident has sparked widespread speculation online as it continues to attract attention
