United's Struggles Continue as Forest Defeat Them, City Stumbles Again
LONDON, Dec 8 — Ruben Amorim’s honeymoon at Manchester United is over after a 3-2 loss to Nottingham Forest, making it two straight Premier League defeats for the club. Despite a bright start to his tenure, Amorim’s side has been unable to build momentum, following a 2-0 loss to Arsenal midweek.
Forest capitalized on United's defensive errors, with goals from Nikola Milenkovic, Morgan Gibbs-White, and Chris Wood. United’s Rasmus Hojlund equalized briefly, but defensive lapses, including a poor showing from goalkeeper Andre Onana, allowed Forest to maintain control. The win lifted Forest to fifth, while United are stuck in 13th.
Amorim remained hopeful, stating, "We are improving in some aspects, but we have to win games to help us improve."
Meanwhile, Manchester City’s title challenge took another hit with a 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace. Despite fighting back twice, including a late equalizer from Rico Lewis, Pep Guardiola’s side has failed to win in eight of their last nine games, leaving them eight points behind leaders Liverpool.
Elsewhere, Brentford continued their impressive home form with a 4-2 victory over Newcastle, while Aston Villa beat bottom-ranked Southampton 1-0. Liverpool’s match at Everton was postponed due to Storm Darragh, giving Arsenal and Chelsea a chance to close the gap at the top when they face Fulham and Tottenham, respectively, on Sunday.
