A 36-year-old man in Beaufort, Sabah, found himself stranded in a seven-meter durian tree for over 30 minutes after a routine drone retrieval turned into a struggle. The man had climbed the tree around 5:40pm on December 23 to recover his drone, but lost his glasses during the climb, causing dizziness and leaving him unable to descend. His wife quickly called for help.
Six firefighters from the Beaufort Fire and Rescue Station responded, arriving 16 kilometers away. Using a ladder and rope, they safely rescued the man, who was then given initial medical treatment and reported to be in stable condition. The operation was completed at 6:49pm.
