Man Arrested for Public Nuisance After Urinating on Escalator Handrail at Outram Park MRT"

SINGAPORE – A 41-year-old man was arrested for public nuisance after urinating on an escalator handrail at Outram Park MRT station last week. The incident was reported by a Facebook user, who claimed their friend witnessed the act around 10pm near Exit 3.

SBS Transit (SBST) staff promptly cleaned the area and filed a police report. With the collaboration of SMRT, SBST, and the Land Transport Authority (LTA), the man was quickly identified and arrested. Police are investigating the matter.

LTA condemned the act, emphasizing the health and sanitation risks it posed to commuters, and vowed to push for the maximum penalty. Outram Park station is a key interchange for the East-West, North East, and Thomson-East Coast lines.
