TANGKAK — Two local workers were killed and seven others injured in an explosion at a rubber processing factory yesterday. Police reported the incident occurred at 2pm when two workers were performing maintenance on five operational machines. One machine exploded, injuring nine workers.
The first victim, a man in his 40s, died at Tangkak Hospital, while the second, a man in his 50s, was confirmed dead at Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital in Muar. The seven injured, including six locals and foreign workers from Bangladesh, Nepal, and Myanmar, are receiving treatment in the hospital's Red Zone.
The case is being investigated as a sudden death, with post-mortem exams conducted today. Police have urged the public to avoid speculation that may hinder the investigation.
