Man to Face Charges Tomorrow for Attempted Sexual Assault of Girl at Batang Kali Mosque

SHAH ALAM — A 19-year-old man, arrested for attempting to sexually assault a young girl at a Batang Kali mosque on February 21, will be charged at the Ampang Magistrate’s Court this Thursday.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed that the investigation has been completed and referred to the Selangor Deputy Prosecutor’s Office. The suspect will face charges under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which could result in up to 20 years in prison and possible whipping if convicted.

The man, who has a learning disability card, was detained after the incident gained widespread attention.
