KUALA LUMPUR — Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has defended the state's proposed stray dog culling plan, assuring that it will adhere strictly to existing animal laws and standard operating procedures (SOPs), not be carried out arbitrarily.

He clarified that local councils would oversee the process responsibly, responding to growing public complaints and safety concerns, including incidents of dog bites and strays entering places of worship.

Despite support from both government and opposition lawmakers, the plan has drawn criticism from NGOs over animal welfare concerns. Aminuddin stressed that irresponsible pet ownership contributes to the issue and called for accountability.

Separately, he urged better use of underutilized MyKioks across the state, suggesting local councils convert them into new hawker zones.
