ISLAMABAD — India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire after four days of intense fighting, but fresh explosions and drone attacks were reported just hours later in Jammu and Kashmir.

Indian authorities accused Pakistan of violating the truce, prompting a strong response from the Indian military. Pakistan denied the accusations, reaffirmed its commitment to the ceasefire, and urged restraint from both sides.

The renewed clashes followed one of the most severe escalations between the nuclear-armed neighbors in nearly 30 years, with 66 civilian deaths reported. Despite the ceasefire, key punitive measures such as trade suspensions and visa cancellations remain in effect.

The truce, brokered with help from over 30 countries including the US, was meant to halt hostilities by 5 p.m. Indian time. However, the resurgence of violence has cast doubt on its durability, reigniting fears in the volatile Kashmir region.
