KUALA LUMPUR — A Toyota Vios was badly damaged after wild elephants attacked it at KM11 of the East-West Highway (Jeli-Gerik) last night. Gerik police chief Supt Zulkifli Mahmood said the 39-year-old driver had stopped and turned off his lights upon seeing a herd crossing. However, car horns from behind agitated the elephants, causing three to charge the vehicle. The driver escaped unharmed, but the car suffered major damage. Authorities advise motorists not to honk or use high beams near elephants, as such encounters are becoming more common due to habitat loss.
