Kedah and Perak face an uncertain future after failing to secure the National Licence needed for the 2025-2026 Super League season due to financial non-compliance. Without the licence, both teams cannot compete unless they successfully appeal or find new investors. Kedah has applied to join the A1 Semi-Pro League, while Perak’s plans remain unclear. AFL chairman Datuk Yusoff Mahadi sees the A1 League as a chance for these teams to rebuild and return to the top league. Meanwhile, 11 Super League clubs, including Johor Darul Ta’zim and Selangor, have secured their licences, while three clubs—Kuala Lumpur, Kelantan, and Police—received licences with conditions.Melaka and Immigration earned exceptional licences to join next season, and Brunei confirmed their entry with new signing Fairuz Zakaria. The MFL stressed that licences are only granted to clubs meeting strict criteria in sports, infrastructure, administration, legal, financial, and business areas.
