This year alone, 15 people have died from dengue fever in the Indian state of Kerala, and 2,450 cases have been confirmed.

Kerala has been identified by the country’s health department as one of the states most vulnerable to dengue outbreaks. Rising temperatures are said to be creating favorable conditions for the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes, which transmit the dengue virus.Following the summer rains, the spread of dengue in Kerala has become a growing concern. While most people experience only mild symptoms, a second dengue infection can lead to severe complications.Last year, 20,568 cases of dengue were confirmed in the state, and another 53,688 were suspected. Experts note that due to the mild nature of symptoms in many cases, dengue infections often go undetected.
