KUALA LUMPUR: Preparations for the Asean Summit and related summits have been handled well and meticulously, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He expressed hope that the 46th Asean Summit, the Asean-GCC Summit, and the Asean-GCC-China Summit would proceed smoothly over the next two days.

"I'm proud of our team's preparation.

"Our officers have worked tirelessly, including those from the Foreign Ministry, the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry, the Finance and Economy Ministry, the police, and everyone involved.

"That includes logistics as well. I can see that everything has been handled meticulously.

"I'm proud, and hopefully, everything will go smoothly," he told reporters after an Asean Pre-Council meeting at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre today.

He said the meetings held over the past two days had discussed all issues in a substantive manner.

"This year's Asean Summit is more complex, as we have the Asean-GCC and China involved," he said.

The 46th Asean Summit and its related meetings, held under Malaysia's 2025 Chairmanship theme 'Inclusivity and Sustainability', are expected to address a wide range of pressing regional and international issues, including political and security matters.

This year marks Malaysia's fifth time chairing the regional bloc, having previously held the Asean chairmanship in 1977, 1997, 2005 and 2015.
