Bangladesh shipped its first batch of mangoes to China on Wednesday, marking a symbolic step in strengthening ties with Beijing after souring relations with India. The move comes amid Bangladesh’s political shift following a 2024 uprising, with interim leader Muhammad Yunus seeking closer ties with China and Pakistan. The initial export is small (50 tonnes), but both countries aim to expand trade. China, eager to boost its influence in South Asia, has also been hosting Bangladeshi political leaders and patients.
