MACC has secured a court order to freeze over RM758 million (£132 million) worth of London properties linked to the late former Finance Minister Daim Zainuddin’s wife, Naima Khalid, and her family. The assets include two commercial buildings, five luxury apartments, and a bank account. The order, approved by the Kuala Lumpur High Court, will be enforced with UK authorities. The freeze is part of MACC’s ongoing efforts to recover assets suspected to be linked to money laundering, terrorism financing, and illegal activities under Section 4(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering Act 2001. MACC previously revealed it is investigating over RM2 billion in undeclared assets tied to Daim, his family, and associates. Several new investigations have been launched following fresh information from foreign firms.Naima faces charges for failing to declare ownership of several companies, lands, and vehicles. After Daim’s death in November 2024, some charges were withdrawn and a release order was issued by the court. The asset freeze marks a continued push by MACC to clamp down on illicit wealth linked to high-profile figures.
