Police have summoned two Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) members for questioning over an LGBT-themed programme planned by the party’s youth wing, with the pair scheduled to give statements at Bukit Aman today. Lawyer Rajsurian Pillai confirmed the investigation is being handled by the CID’s classified crimes unit. The number of police reports on the event has surged to 188, according to Bukit Aman CID director Shuhaily Zain. Selangor police are investigating under Section 298A of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for promoting disharmony and improper network use. Religious affairs minister Na’im Mokhtar previously urged PSM to cancel the workshop, saying it defied societal and religious values.
