Simran, a top Tamil actress of the 90s, recently revealed in an interview that her real name is Rishibala. She said her passport still carries that name. However, director Sawan Kumar changed it to Simran, feeling “Rishi” sounded too masculine. Simran added that although it's a Punjabi name and she is Punjabi by birth, she was born and raised in Mumbai and doesn't speak the language.
