KOTA KINABALU — Jalan Lintas in Kota Kinabalu has become a dangerous accident hotspot, dubbed the ‘death U-turn’ zone after multiple fatal crashes, said Luyang assemblyman and Industrial Development Minister Phoong Jin Zhe.
He highlighted that rapid urban growth and outdated road design have led to frequent accidents, heavy congestion, and safety risks. Phoong urged the federal government to prioritize comprehensive upgrades—including removing hazardous U-turns, building flyovers, and improving traffic flow—in the upcoming 13th Malaysia Plan.
He also emphasized integrating road improvements with public transport planning to address the area’s fast development and rising traffic demands.
