IPOH — At least 15 people lost their lives in a tragic collision between a bus carrying Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) students and a Perodua Alza on the East-West Highway in Banun, Gerik, early this morning.

The Civil Defence Force (APM) confirmed that 48 people were involved, with 13 dying at the scene and two more passing away at the hospital. Four others sustained injuries.

The bus was en route from Jertih, Terengganu to Tanjung Malim, Perak.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed condolences and instructed the Higher Education Ministry to provide necessary support. Minister Zambry Abd Kadir assured full assistance and will release further updates soon.
