GEORGE TOWN — Transport Minister Anthony Loke said road safety on the East-West Highway will be discussed at the Cabinet meeting tomorrow, following the tragic crash that killed 15 UPSI students near Tasik Banding.
He stressed that safety improvements — including better road conditions and lighting — require joint efforts from multiple ministries. His ministry plans to install solar lamps to improve night visibility and will visit the crash site on Thursday.
Loke confirmed that police and JPJ are investigating the crash. While police are checking for criminal elements, JPJ will audit the bus company’s safety compliance. The Land Public Transport Agency has also issued a show-cause letter, requesting the bus’s GPS data and driver records.
Loke urged the public to await the investigation results before drawing conclusions.
