LOS ANGELES — President Trump has deployed 700 US Marines and 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles as protests over recent immigration arrests intensify. He warned demonstrators they would be “hit harder than ever” if unrest continues.
The deployment follows four days of protests, some turning violent, sparked by arrests targeting undocumented immigrants and alleged gang members. While Monday's demonstrations were mostly peaceful, clashes and arrests occurred in Santa Ana, San Francisco, New York, and Austin.
California Governor Newsom condemned the move as “un-American,” and LA officials voiced concerns over uncoordinated federal involvement. Despite Trump’s strong rhetoric, most protests remained non-violent, and daily life in the city largely continued as normal.
