SINGAPORE — A 16-year-old boy has been convicted of armed rioting after attacking a teen at Buona Vista MRT over a false accusation.

On September 1, 2024, the boy and five others, aged 13–17, confronted a 17-year-old, wrongly believing he had harmed a friend. They led him to a secluded area, where some attacked him, and the 16-year-old threatened him with a 9cm flick knife. Part of the incident was recorded.

The victim suffered minor facial injuries and reported the case to police. The teen, who cannot be named, was convicted on March 24 and remains in remand. A court report will determine if he's suitable for reformative training, with sentencing set for July 17.
