SHAH ALAM — The Transport Ministry has revoked the vehicle operator licence of the lorry company involved in the deadly May 13 crash in Teluk Intan, which killed nine FRU members. Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the firm’s vehicles are now banned from operating, and the company owner will be prosecuted.
The overloaded lorry, carrying 40,960kg of gravel without proper permission or a GPS device, collided with an FRU truck on Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam. The collision also injured nine other FRU members.
Loke added that victims' families may pursue compensation. An investigation revealed the FRU truck lacked seatbelts and had unsafe rear bench seats, contributing to the high number of casualties. JPJ is continuing its probe and will forward findings for prosecution.
