College student dies after motorcycle skids and hits road divider

KLUANG: A 20-year-old Interactive Media diploma student died after his motorcycle skidded at Km69.2 northbound on the North-South Expressway yesterday.

The third-semester student at the Melaka International College of Science & Technology (MiCoST), Mohamad Danish Subaha, was confirmed dead at the scene due to severe injuries.

Kluang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said preliminary investigations found that the victim was travelling from Simpang Renggam to Melaka on a Yamaha Y16ZR motorcycle.

"The motorcycle is believed to have gone out of control and skidded, hitting a road divider.

"The victim fell onto the road and died at the scene due to severe head injuries," he said in a statement.

The police received a report at 3.20pm.

Bahrin said the body was taken to Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital for a post-mortem and would be handed over to the family for further action.

"The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he added.
