Kuala Lumpur’s development must balance physical growth with social needs to ensure long-term livability for all generations, said Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa. She stressed that rapid development must be matched with adequate schools, clinics, transport, and green spaces from the start. Speaking after chairing the Federal Territories Ministerial Council Meeting, she urged integrated planning between developers and authorities, replacing siloed approaches. Dr Zaliha also emphasized the need for MPs’ involvement in planning to be data-driven and long-term, not based on public perception alone. Separately, she met with Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing to discuss boosting KL, Putrajaya, and Labuan as major tourism hubs, and invited collaboration for the upcoming Borneo Flora Festival in Labuan, targeting 50,000 visitors. New tourism products for Putrajaya are also in development to extend tourist stays and enhance experiences.
