KUALA LUMPUR — The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has yet to confirm Harimau Malaya’s participation in the 2025 CAFA Nations Cup, despite online claims suggesting otherwise. FAM Competitions Committee deputy chairman Datuk Zainal Abidin Hassan said discussions are ongoing and a final decision will be made later.

He added that participation would be welcomed if it benefits the national team. Malaysia was reported to be joining teams like Iran, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan in the Central Asian tournament.

FAM is also undecided on hosting the 2025 Pestabola Merdeka due to a packed calendar involving national and M-League commitments. The historic tournament, launched in 1957, saw Malaysia crowned champions last year under coach Pau Marti Vincente after defeating Lebanon.
