Tensions between Israel and Iran surged as Israel struck Iran’s Khondab nuclear facility and Natanz sites, targeting nuclear infrastructure. In retaliation, Iranian missiles hit populated areas in Israel, including a hospital in Beersheba, injuring dozens and damaging buildings near Tel Aviv.
The conflict, now in its sixth day, has killed hundreds in Iran and at least 24 civilians in Israel. Israel claims its strikes have damaged Iran’s nuclear program and killed senior military figures. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said it was targeting Israeli intelligence sites near the hospital.
President Trump has yet to confirm if the US will join Israel’s campaign, saying only, “I may do it. I may not.” While some in his base urge restraint, others push for action. Trump hinted Iran may be open to talks but added, “it’s a little late.”
Iran’s Supreme Leader warned of “irreparable damage” if the US intervenes. Meanwhile, European nations are urging diplomacy, planning talks with Iran to prevent further escalation and revive nuclear negotiations.
Since Friday, Iran has launched about 400 missiles at Israel—40 of which bypassed Israeli defences—marking a significant escalation. Israel has not confirmed civilian casualties in Iran, but independent sources report over 600 killed.
The crisis raises fears of broader regional war, with world leaders calling for restraint and renewed diplomacy.
