Following Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over Pachuca in the Club World Cup, defender Antonio Rudiger reported being racially insulted by Pachuca’s Gustavo Cabral, according to coach Xabi Alonso. Rudiger, visibly upset after the match, spoke with the referee, prompting FIFA's anti-racism protocol to be activated.
Alonso confirmed the team fully supports Rudiger and called for appropriate action if the claims are proven. Pachuca coach Jaime Lozano said he was unaware of the incident and would speak with Cabral, emphasizing that such behavior is unacceptable.
FIFA has yet to comment on the matter as the investigation is ongoing.
