New York Jets co-owner Woody Johnson has agreed to purchase John Textor’s 43% share in Crystal Palace for £190 million, ensuring Palace can participate in next season’s Europa League without clashing with Textor’s Lyon ownership.
The deal, pending Premier League and WSL approval, comes after Palace qualified for Europe by winning the FA Cup—beating Manchester City—while Lyon also earned a Europa League place. Johnson, heir to the Johnson & Johnson fortune, steps in to avoid UEFA’s multi-club rules snubbing Palace, and will join the board once the transaction is complete.
