Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon broke her own women’s 1,500m world record at the Diamond League in Eugene, Oregon, clocking 3:48.68. This improved her previous record of 3:49.04 set in Paris in July 2024. Running her first 1,500m of the season, Kipyegon said her recent mile attempt helped boost her performance. She’s now focused on preparing for the World Championships in Tokyo. Ethiopia’s Diribe Welteji finished second, while Australia’s Jessica Hull came third. Hull praised Kipyegon’s consistency and strength in the final lap.
