Vivianne Miedema marked her 100th international goal as the Netherlands cruised to a 3-0 win over Wales in their Women’s Euro 2025 opener on Saturday in Lucerne.

Miedema opened the scoring with a superb curling shot just before half-time, despite being a pre-tournament injury doubt. Victoria Pelova and Esmee Brugts added second-half goals, sealing a comfortable win and giving Wales a tough debut in major tournament football.The Dutch, under coach Andries Jonker, now sit atop Group D ahead of England’s clash with France. Wales struggled throughout and now face an uphill task in what’s considered the tournament’s toughest group.Meanwhile, England coach Sarina Wiegman confirmed that Lauren James would start against France, following her recovery from a hamstring injury.
