KUALA LUMPUR: Ong Yew Sin’s inspiring Japan Open journey ended in the semi finals, despite wife Aya Ohori’s support from the stands.
Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi fell 21-14, 21-15 to South Korea’s world No. 3 Kim Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. It was Yew Sin’s first tournament since marrying former Japanese star Ohori last month.
Their run to the World Tour semi final after seven straight first round exits revived hopes for a stronger season ahead. The loss also ended the chance for an all Malaysian final, with top seeds Goh Sze Fei Nur Izzuddin contesting the other semi-final.
