Liverpool has agreed to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike for an initial £69 million, potentially rising to £79 million with add-ons. The 23-year-old French forward, who scored 22 goals last season, becomes Liverpool’s priority after Newcastle refused to sell striker Alexander Isak.Newcastle and Manchester United were also interested, but Liverpool looks set to secure one of Europe’s brightest young talents. Ekitike will join the team for their pre-season tour in Asia.
