WUG 2025:Azeem misses 200m final, admits not ready for double events.

National sprinter Muhammad Azeem Mohd Fahmi failed to qualify for the men’s 200m final at the 2025 Rhine-Ruhr World University Games in Lohrheidestadion, clocking 21.51 seconds slower than his earlier 21.26s. South Africa’s Bayanda Walaza led the heat with 20.76s.Azeem admitted fatigue after competing in multiple events over four days, saying his body wasn’t ready to handle both 100m and 200m races. Despite missing the final, he remains positive, viewing the experience as preparation for 2026 when he plans to focus on both events. His personal best in the 200m is 20.79s, just shy of the national record.Azeem, who finished fourth in the 100m, will next compete in the 4x100m relay heats. Meanwhile, Malaysia’s mixed 4x400m team missed the finals after finishing last in their heat.In badminton, Malaysians Eogene Ewe and Wong Ling Ching advanced to the singles quarter-finals after victories in the round of 16.
