Malaysia’s top mixed doubles pair, Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei, fell short of reaching the China Open semi-finals after losing 19-21, 15-21 to All England champions Guo Xin Wa and Chen Fang Hui in a 42-minute match.Ranked world No. 4, the Malaysians committed numerous unforced errors, a contrast to their strong performances in earlier rounds. The Chinese duo, ranked No. 9, will face either fellow compatriots Feng Yan Zhe-Huang Dong Ping or Indonesia’s Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto-Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja next. This marks another setback for Tang Jie-Ee Wei, who also exited at the Japan Open semi-finals last week to another Chinese pair. They are still chasing their first title of the year, with their last win at the 2023 Korea Open. As quarter-finalists, they earned US\$12,500 (RM52,700). The tournament carries a total prize pool of US $2 million, with doubles winners taking home US $148,000,runners-up earning US $70,000, and losing semi-finalists pocketing US $28,000.
