Senior Medical Assistant Remanded Over Power Abuse in Labuan

LABUAN: A senior medical assistant has been remanded for four days until July 28 to assist in an investigation into alleged abuse of power involving contract awards.

The man, in his 50s, was arrested at the Labuan MACC office at 5.40pm while giving a statement. He is suspected of using his position in 2023 and 2024 to award RM20,000 worth of logistics-related work to his wife's company.

The remand order was issued by Magistrate Kasyfurrahman Abang Ahmad following a request by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

Labuan MACC Director Muhammat Azis Malmod confirmed the case is being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
