Malaysia’s Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah were denied a spot in the China Open final after losing 14-21, 17-21 to China's Jia Yi Fan-Zhang Shu Xian in just 38 minutes. Despite being ranked world No. 3 and coming off a Japan Open runner-up finish, they were outplayed by the eighth-ranked home pair, cheered on by a strong local crowd.
