Malaysian Shuttlers to Train in Denmark for World Championships
Malaysia's World Championships-bound shuttlers will undergo a week-long training camp in Copenhagen, Denmark, from August 18-22, ahead of the World Championships in Paris (August 25-31).
National coaching director Kenneth Jonassen initiated the arrangement with Badminton Denmark, believing the exposure to a different training environment and European conditions will greatly benefit the Malaysian players.
The training stint will provide valuable sparring opportunities for men's singles players Leong Jun Hao (world No. 26) and Justin Hoh (No. 45), who will train with Danish players like Rasmus Gemke (No. 30), Mads Christophersen (No. 65), and Magnus Johannesen (No. 73).1 While top Danish stars Anders Antonsen (No. 3) and Viktor Axelsen (No. 8) are not officially part of the national team setup, their potential presence for sparring is acknowledged.
Women's singles hopeful K. Letshanaa (No. 42), making her World Championships debut alongside Leong Jun Hao, Lee Zii Jia (No. 33), and Goh Jin Wei (No. 45), is expected to particularly benefit from sparring with world-class Danish shuttlers, including Line Kjaersfeldt (No. 19), Mia Blichfeldt (No. 26), Julie Dawall Jakobsen (No. 30), and Line Christophersen (No. 32).
