Backbencher Challenges Opposition to Table No-Confidence Vote Against PM Anwar
A government backbencher, Mohd Sany Hamzan (PH - Hulu Langat), today challenged the Opposition to translate their recent "Turun Anwar" street protests into parliamentary action by tabling a vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Mohd Sany highlighted that despite the Opposition's suggestions during the rally on Saturday (July 26, 2025) that such a motion could be tabled, and Anwar's openness to the challenge, no motion has been presented two days into the parliamentary session.
Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin had reportedly stated during the rally that Perikatan Nasional was considering submitting such a motion "in the near future." Thousands attended the Kuala Lumpur rally last weekend demanding Anwar's resignation.1 However, Prime Minister Anwar currently commands a supermajority in the Dewan Rakyat.
