Liverpool manager Arne Slot has hit back at pundits for focusing on the club's £450m summer spend, accusing some of favouring rival teams in their commentary. Speaking ahead of Liverpool's Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid, where record signing Alexander Isak is set to debut, Slot emphasised that the club recouped nearly £300m through player sales. "I repeat, £450m, £450m!" Slot said, highlighting what he sees as selective criticism. He added that strengthening the squad required significant investment, especially after a quiet previous summer. Isak joined from Newcastle on deadline day for a British record £125m.
