Colombian trailblazer Ximena Restrepo has declared her intention to run for president of World Athletics, aiming to become the first woman to lead the sport's global governing body. Already serving as the organisation’s first female vice-president, the 56-year-old former sprinter revealed her ambitions during the World Championships in Tokyo. Restrepo may have stepped up earlier had Sebastian Coe become IOC president, but with Coe remaining for a third and final term, she’s now setting her sights on the top job in the future and on making history in the process.
