SINGAPORE — A 66-year-old man has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing at a housing block in Yishun.

Koh Ah Hwee was charged from hospital on Thursday via a field magistrate’s visit, according to CNA.

He is accused of murdering Nguyen Phuong Tra by stabbing her in the chest with a knife.

The alleged incident took place along the common corridor of Block 323 Yishun Central, outside a sixth-floor flat on Wednesday morning.

Police said they were alerted and found three people lying injured on the corridor when they arrived.

Koh is believed to have attacked the woman and her husband with a knife during a dispute over noise.

The 30-year-old Vietnamese woman was taken to hospital unconscious and later pronounced dead.

A neighbour told CNA she was woken by loud shouting and saw the woman bleeding on the ground while her husband tried to protect her.

The male victim was also injured in the incident but his condition has not been detailed.

If convicted, Koh faces the death penalty under Singapore’s laws on murder.

The case has been adjourned and will be mentioned again in court on October 2.
