KUALA LUMPUR — The city’s authorities have shut down three beauty salons operating illegally and run by foreigners during a joint enforcement operation in Jalan Ipoh.

The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) raid, carried out with the Immigration Department  and the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, targeted unlicensed businesses and those violating licence conditions.

A total of 11 premises were inspected under the “Tindakan Khas Premis Siri 10/2025” operation around Kompleks Mutiara.

DBKL issued 17 compound notices for various offences, including employing foreigners without valid work permits and operating without business licences.

Some businesses were also penalised for displaying signage without proper advertising permits.

Immigration officers detained 17 foreign nationals during the raid after checks on passports and work permits.

Ministry enforcers inspected 24 premises for price tag compliance, the use of weighing instruments, and the display of sale notices.

DBKL said it would continue such integrated enforcement operations at targeted locations and urged the public to report illegal activities.
