KUALA LUMPUR — A woman was killed while two others were injured in a road accident involving a motorcycle and a car along the Kuching-Samarahan Expressway, near the traffic lights in front of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), in Kota Samarahan, Sarawak, today.
According to a report published by BuletinTV3, in the 9.30am incident, the woman was riding a motorcycle with a man.
Upon reaching the location, their motorcycle collided with a car driven by a woman.
The impact threw the victim under a lorry, and she was dragged for about 40 metres.
A spokesman for the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department’s (JBPM) Operations Centre said they received an emergency call at 9.30am before dispatching a fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle with six personnel from the Kota Samarahan Fire and Rescue Station to the scene.
“Upon arrival, it was found that a motorcycle was completely burnt, believed to have caught fire following a collision with a Proton Saga,” the spokesman said in a statement today.
The woman driving the car sustained injuries, while the man riding the motorcycle with the victim was also hurt in the crash.
The injured victims were sent to a nearby hospital by ambulance for further treatment.
