KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 — A man died after a tree fell on his car near Hartamas Regency, Persiaran Dutamas following heavy rainfall earlier.
Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari confirmed the 29-year-old man died at the scene, adding that another driver, also 29, was uninjured.
A Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the department had earlier responded to several emergency calls following a thunderstorm that lasted between 4pm and 5.30pm in the city centre.
The spokesman said the department responded to three calls in total.
Personnel were immediately dispatched to several affected locations to conduct rescue, clean-up and tree cutting operations.
The department said a woman in her 30s was also injured after a tree fell on her car along Jalan Metro Prima, Kepong Baru.
In the third incident, the department reported no fatalities or injuries, although one car was damaged along Jalan Burung Baram, Taman Bukit Maluri.
“All incidents were swiftly handled by our personnel, and the situation remained under control throughout the clean-up process at the respective affected areas,” it said.
