James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash has officially surpassed the $1 billion mark at the global box office this morning. The film reached this milestone in record time, largely driven by massive ticket sales in China and other Asian markets, where the franchise has a massive following.

The film's success is being credited to its groundbreaking use of underwater motion capture and high-frame-rate 3D. Despite the long gap between sequels, Cameron has once again proven that "event cinema" can still generate massive revenue in the age of streaming.

Disney has already confirmed that production for the fourth and fifth installments is well underway. The studio plans to maintain a two-year release cycle for the remaining chapters of the saga, ensuring Avatar remains a dominant force in Hollywood for years to come.
