The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a weather alert today, predicting hot and dry conditions across most of Peninsular Malaysia until the end of the month. The northern states, including Perlis, Kedah, and Penang, are expected to experience the highest temperatures, with some areas potentially reaching 37 degrees Celsius.

Health authorities have urged the public to minimize outdoor activities during peak heat hours and to increase water intake to prevent heat exhaustion. Schools in the affected regions have been advised to suspend outdoor sports activities until the weather cools down. The dry spell is also causing concern for the agricultural sector, particularly for rice farmers who rely on consistent water supplies.

In addition to the heat, the dry conditions have increased the risk of bushfires. The Fire and Rescue Department has been placed on high alert to monitor hotspots and has urged the public to avoid open burning. While the heatwave is expected to subside by February 1, residents are advised to monitor official weather updates for any sudden changes.
