Despite a strong marketing campaign, Rani Mukerji’s gritty cop drama Mardaani 3 has seen a sharp decline in ticket sales on its first Monday. The film earned just RM2.15 crore (approx. 2.15 Crore INR) today, bringing its total domestic collection to roughly RM19.65 crore.
While the previous installments were massive hits, the third chapter has received mixed reviews for its "overly dark" tone. Trade analysts suggest that the film’s niche subject matter—girl child trafficking—has limited its appeal to a broader family audience.
The film was produced on an estimated budget of RM60 crore, and it now faces a difficult path to profitability. All eyes are now on the upcoming weekend to see if positive word-of-mouth can help the movie sustain its run against new releases.
