Heavy torrential rain in the early hours of this morning has triggered flash floods in several low-lying districts of Johor and Melaka. The National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) reported that over 400 people have been evacuated to temporary relief centers as water levels in some residential areas rose to waist height. Emergency services, including the Fire and Rescue Department, have been working since 4:00 AM to rescue stranded residents.

Several key roads connecting rural villages to main towns have been temporarily closed due to landslides and rising river levels. In Melaka, the state government has activated its flood relief task force to distribute food and medical supplies to the affected families. Meteorological officials warned today that the "inter-monsoon" weather pattern is expected to continue for the next 48 hours, posing a risk of further flooding.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, currently attending a regional summit, has instructed the relevant ministries to ensure that immediate financial aid is made available to those who have lost their belongings. Public works teams are also on standby to begin clearing debris as soon as the water recedes to prevent long-term damage to local infrastructure.
