His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, issued a stern reminder today that the construction of all houses of worship must strictly comply with existing laws. In a statement from Istana Negara, the King warned that politicising religious matters could severely undermine the nation's harmony and stability. He called on all parties to respect the legal framework and avoid using religion as a tool for personal or political gain.

This royal decree follows recent public debates regarding the status of unregulated religious buildings in several states. The King emphasized that local councils must take firm action against any illegal developments while ensuring that the rights of all communities are protected under the Federal Constitution. His Majesty stressed that unity and mutual respect are the cornerstones of a progressive Malaysia.

Religious leaders across the country have welcomed the King’s intervention, describing it as a necessary step to de-escalate social tensions. The government has pledged to work closely with state authorities to streamline the approval process for new houses of worship while maintaining strict oversight of land use and zoning regulations.
