Transport Minister Anthony Loke officially launched the first Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) train and Electric Locomotive at the ECRL KotaSAS Station in Kuantan today. During the ceremony, it was announced that Maxis has been appointed as the primary infrastructure provider to ensure seamless 4G and 5G coverage along the entire East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) route. This ensures that passengers will have high-speed connectivity even while traveling through remote areas.
The project is now entering its final phase of track laying and station completion, with the government expressing confidence that it will be fully operational by early 2027. The ECRL is expected to significantly boost the economy of the East Coast states by facilitating faster cargo movement and passenger travel between Port Klang and Kota Bharu.
Additionally, the Perdana Fellows Programme was officially revived today after a two-year hiatus. The Youth and Sports Ministry confirmed that the program will run from June to October 2026, offering young Malaysians the opportunity to gain leadership experience by working directly with cabinet ministers.
